You don’t cure a drug addiction with more drugs, explains addictions expert Dr.Julian Somers. No evidence exists in any country to show this approach actually works. For example, he said prescribing Oxycontin in known quantities and strengths resulted in a drug crisis. Why expect any difference with Fentanyl? People are still left homeless, unemployed and with untreated mental illness.
Besides, he said many overdose deaths are from taking a “cocktail of different drugs”, explains Dr. Somers.
